Aquaculturist of the Year Award 2008

The AquaFair Committee is very proud to announce Mr. Hugh Madill as the recipient of the 2008 Aquaculturist of the Year Award. This award was presented at the gala dinner on May 13th in Saint John, NB.
Hugh Madill graduated from Sir James Dunn Academy, in St. Andrews in 1968. He then worked at the British American Bank Note in Ottawa before entering the University of New Brunswick in Fredericton. In 1973, Hugh graduated from UNB with a Bachelor of Physical Education. He then spent some time on a working/touring trip to New Zealand. In 1974, Hugh was hired as the first technician at the Atlantic Salmon Federation, and was promoted to Hatchery Manager in 1979. After almost 10 years in this role, Hugh then became Regional Director for the Department of Fisheries & Aquaculture in Milltown, NB. In 1991, Hugh became Regional Director, responsible for the operations of the Regional Office in St. George for the Department of Agriculture and Aquaculture, and remains in this role today.
Hugh is married, with two children, and two granddaughters.
